TBR Thursday is a weekly post where I draw attention to books by sharing with you the books I've either purchased, received, borrowed, or received for review, plus 10 books currently on my TBR list.
-----------
This week I bought myself some early Christmas presents. Not really, it's just how I've justified the expense to myself ;) .
Books I Purchased:
The Year God's Daughter, Rebecca Lochlann
Aridela: Wrapped in legend, beloved of the people. An extraordinary woman who dances with bulls.
The north wind brings a swift ship and two brothers who plot Crete's overthrow. Desire for this woman will propel their long rivalry into hatred so murderous it hurtles all three into an unimaginable future, and sparks the immortal rage of the Erinyes.
A woman of keen instinct and unshakeable loyalty. A proud warrior prince and his wounded half-brother. Glory, passion, treachery and conspiracy on the grandest scale.
What seems the end is only the beginning.
Why I Bought It: I bought this one on the recommendation of a writer friend who loved it.
Buy It for Yourself:
Shadowlander (Shadow Sisters #1), Theresa Meyers
Synopsis from Goodreads: Four sisters, three rules to live by, one big problem.
O'Connell Family Rule #1: Don't let the Fae know you see them.
O'Connell Family Rule #2: Don't talk to the Fae.
O'Connell Family Rule #3: Never, ever follow them.
Most people only believe what they can see. Gifted with the ability to see the deep, dark fae of Shadowland, Catherine Rowan Mary O'Connell would prefer not to. When the fae abduct her friend Maya, Cate breaks the sacred O'Connell Family Rules and sets a trap for the handsome fae who haunts her every step.
Rook, High Court Advisor to the Shadow King, has been following Cate since she was sixteen. When Cate reveals herself as one of the fabled "Seers", Rook is stunned—she is one of the few that can permanently open the gates between their worlds. If he turns her over to the Shadow King, his court will rule the human realm.
Cate knows she has precious little time to find Maya. By midnight, the glamour of Mid-Summer's Eve will fade, leaving her trapped forever in the Shadowland, but Maya's abductor won't give up the woman he's mesmerized easily.
The midnight hour is almost at hand. Cate must choose: her freedom or her destiny.
Why I Bought It: I'm in full-on love with everything I've read from Entangled Publishing thus far so I figured I'd give this novella a try. On top of that it was only $0.99 for the e-book. And of course the awesome cover helps!
Buy It for Yourself:
Life As We Knew It (Last Survivors #1), Susan Beth Pfeffer
Synopsis from Goodreads: Miranda’s disbelief turns to fear in a split second when a meteor knocks the moon closer to the earth. How should her family prepare for the future when worldwide tsunamis wipe out the coasts, earthquakes rock the continents, and volcanic ash blocks out the sun? As summer turns to Arctic winter, Miranda, her two brothers, and their mother retreat to the unexpected safe haven of their sunroom, where they subsist on stockpiled food and limited water in the warmth of a wood-burning stove.
Told in journal entries, this is the heart-pounding story of Miranda’s struggle to hold on to the most important resource of all--hope--in an increasingly desperate and unfamiliar world.
Why I Bought It: It's been on my TBR list for a while and I found it this week for only $3.28 on Kindle. I love books on sale.

Books I Won:
Anna and the French Kiss, Stephanie Perkins
I won a signed hardback. So excited to read this one. I've heard only good things and check out this Synopsis from Goodreads:
Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris - until she meets Etienne St. Clair: perfect, Parisian (and English and American, which makes for a swoon-worthy accent), and utterly irresistible. The only problem is that he's taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her almost-relationship back home.
As winter melts into spring, will a year of romantic near-misses end with the French kiss Anna - and readers - have long awaited?

Books I Received for Review:
The Fairy Tale Trap (Ivy Thorn #1), Emily Casey
Synopsis from Goodreads: A beautiful girl falls in love with a beast. Ivy’s heard the story before, but now it’s a reality.
Ivy has always been afraid of mirrors, but she never knew why. Then one of them sucks her into the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast.
So what if she’s been pulled from her home and talks to pixies now? That’s no big deal for a military brat. Ivy’s used to adapting. All she wants is to find her way home.
But when she tries to escape, Ivy breaks the wrong spell. Now Beast is not so gentle-on-the-inside, Beauty is falling for the wrong prince, and Ivy is no closer to figuring out how to get through the enchanted forest that traps her.
With magic mirrors, dancing fairies, a sadistic pixie, and other random fairy tale twists, Ivy doesn’t know what’s safe or who to trust. Can she escape the fairy tale trap?

Be warned--when I read LIFE AS WE KNEW IT, I could hardly stand to put it down. Life became an annoyance to fit in around my reading until I finished it!
I started it last night and you're right, it's addicting!!
